Aviemore Ice Rink is the home base for our Learn to Play, U10, U12, U14, and Recreational teams. We’re proud to support young players as they grow in skill, confidence, and love for the sport.

Junior Learn to Play (U18)

Our weekly junior Learn to Play sessions are designed to introduce young people to ice hockey in a fun, structured, and supportive environment. Volunteer coaches teach:

• Stick skills and basic handling
• Shooting and passing
• Skating confidence
• Simple drills and game awareness

These sessions help develop strong foundations for anyone interested in joining a team.

Equipment & Requirements

• Basic skating skills are required before joining Learn to Play. These can be gained through our Learn to Skate sessions.
• Some loan kit is available for new starts on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

Adult Ice Hockey

The Aviemore Avalanche Reccie Team is the adult hockey team at the rink, who train twice a week in Aviemore and then travel to regular games around Scotland.
