Learn to Skate

Our Learn to Skate program is growing rapidly, with over 50 people attending weekly Skate UK lessons. It’s fantastic to see so much local interest, and we’re proud to offer sessions that support every level — from complete beginners to skaters working through the Skate UK grades.

We have something for everyone, but due to the current demand, a waiting list is now in place. This helps us keep class sizes safe, supportive, and enjoyable for all skaters.

All sessions include the use of skates and equipment if required.

Skate Tots (Ages 5 and Under)

Skate Tots is a fun, friendly introduction to the ice for children aged 5 and under. Each 30‑minute session is filled with games, simple activities, and confidence‑building exercises designed to help little ones feel comfortable on the ice while having a great time.

These sessions are perfect for young beginners who want to explore the ice in a relaxed, supportive environment with a parent right beside them.

Skate UK and Skate UK Star

Our learn to skate program gives young skaters aged 6 to 17 a clear, structured pathway through all the essential skills they need for general skating, figure skating, or ice hockey. The program is designed to build confidence step by step, with each level introducing new techniques that help skaters move safely, smoothly, and with growing control on the ice.

Adult Learn to skate

Adult Learn to Skate at Aviemore Ice Rink gives adults a supportive, low‑pressure space to build confidence, strengthen technique, or explore new skating skills at any stage. It’s designed for anyone who wants to feel more secure on the ice, polish their abilities for recreational skating, or develop skills that support figure skating or ice hockey pathways.
